Gypsum Plastering

Gypsum Plastering

Walls set the first impression for building finishes. The gypsum plastering helps in achieving undulation free smooth walls.

What is gypsum?
Gypsum is a rock like sedimentary mineral it’s found in the earth crust, extracted, processed and used by man in construction work.
Gypsum is composed of calcium sulphate and water.
Gypsum is an evaporate mineral, commonly found in layered in sedimentary deposits.

Gypsum is more environmental friendly than Cement.

Application procedure:

Bull marking:

  • Initial bull mark has to be fixed in masonry surface

  • Unlike Cement-Mortar plastering bull mark alone not enough for the Gypsum plastering. We need to create vertical strips using of aluminium straight edge with bull mark reference

  • Add required quantity of the gypsum with water and mix thoroughly

  • Make in paste form

  • There are two types of Plaster Gypsum are available in market. Fast setting with setting time around 5 minutes & Normal setting with setting time around 20 minutes. So the quantity of mixing should be based on the volume to be consumed with the setting time. Hence typically in a day’s work 6 to 8 batch of mixing required.

  • Apply the paste directly in wall/ceiling by using putty blade or float

  • Level the surface by using of aluminium straight edge

  • If any undulation found apply some paste again and level it

  • Excess material can be removed with fine tuning process and we can achieve smooth surface

  • Curing is not required for in this plastered surface, So we can able to save water

  • Handling is easier as it is a light weight material

  • Good ponding with all types of blocks

  • The application is very easy to make at wall/ceiling surface

  • This plaster doesn’t get shrinkage cracks. So our construction plaster will be free from shrinkage cracks and keeping our walls maintenance free.

  • These materials are ready to use. So we can able to do the plaster quickly.

  • Here, we can avoid the river sand, M sand and plaster sand. So we can able protect the environmental.

Very good storage facility without moisture is must

This is not suitable for external plastering

Gypsum plaster will get affected by water; So walls has to be maintained without exposing to water
